Think out loud.
The passion to create is truly synergy between emotion, motivation and experience. Tapping into this energy can be magical, though it is mere consequence. The more we understand about what does and does not seem to correlate with creative thinking, the more we can optimize our experiences and our surroundings to align with the potential for creativity. Its all about outlook. If you can change your mind, then you can change your reality. Thus, the ability to create can harbor.
There really is no ideal pattern to creative thinking. No perfect pill you can swallow to stimulate all of the necessary processes that make creative insights occur. No task or exercise you can perform to spark an idea in your mind. There are, however, certain scientifically shown things we can do to increase the likelihood of having creative thoughts. Simply experiment.

The only exception is if you’re planning for a weekend bender — then probably leave it at home. Other than that, always have it slung over your shoulder. It would probably help to get an extra battery to carry in your pocket. I’ve got three batteries. One in my camera, one in my pocket, one in the charger. When it dies, swap them all.
For me, the most important part of improving at photography has been sharing it. Sign up for an Exposure account, or post regularly to Tumblr, or both. Tell people you’re trying to get better at photography. Talk about it. When you talk about it, other people get excited about it. They’ll come on photo walks with you. They’ll pose for portraits. They’ll buy your prints, zines, whatever.
